What Is CPM (Cost Per Mille) in Paid Ads?
What is CPM? CPM (cost per mille, or cost per thousand impressions) is the amount an ad platform charges every time an ad is shown a thousand times, regardless of clicks or conversions. It’s the most basic metric of the paid media auction, used by Meta Ads, Google Ads and any media buying channel to price delivery.
Why CPM alone doesn’t say much
CPM measures only the first step of the funnel: how much it costs to be seen. It doesn’t tell you whether the people who saw the ad clicked, reached the bridge page, entered the Telegram channel (enter_channel) or became paying subscribers or depositors. Two campaigns can have exactly the same CPM and completely different results after the impression.
A low CPM doesn’t mean a good campaign
A low CPM may simply mean the ad is being delivered to an audience that’s cheaper to reach, not necessarily one more likely to convert. Optimizing a campaign for a low CPM tends to pull the algorithm toward shallow reach instead of people who actually enter the channel and stay. The guide to optimizing for real conversion events explains why the event you choose as the goal weighs more in that math than the cost of the impression itself.
Where CPM fits in the cost of a Telegram funnel
In a campaign for a Telegram channel, CPM is just the first number in a chain: impression → ad click → arrival on the bridge page → channel entry → subscription or deposit. Looking at CPM in isolation, without going down to the real CPL by vertical or to the value event (an FTD, a paid subscription), hides whether the media that’s cheaper per thousand impressions is actually bringing in subscribers, or just impressions.
CPM vs cost per result
Comparing two campaigns or two creatives by CPM alone is common, but shallow: a creative can have a higher CPM and still come out cheaper per subscriber, if its conversion rate to enter_channel (and then to a deposit or subscription) is better. The question that matters isn’t “which ad costs less to show” but “which ad costs less per real result”. See what FTD means for the event that usually defines that result in iGaming and binary options, and CPC for the same trap one step further down the funnel.
How Track4you helps you read it
Track4you ties each enter_channel to the original click within the attribution window (up to 7 days after the click), with the campaign identified by the ad’s UTMs. On the Pro and Enterprise plans, Integrations also bring in registrations, FTDs and deposits from the sportsbook, casino or broker. In the Dashboard, the amount-spent card (“Valor Gasto”) and the cost-per fields (“Custo por…”) pull data from your Facebook ad accounts next to your channel entries. That lets you go from CPM to the real cost per subscriber or per FTD, instead of deciding only on the cost of delivery that the ads manager shows you.
