What Is Connect Rate in Paid Ads?

By Mario Antonini·

Connect rate is the percentage of people who click your ad and actually reach the destination page. If 10 people click and only 5 load your bridge page, your connect rate is 50%. It measures the click → page step, which happens even before anyone enters your Telegram channel.

Note: in call centers and telecom, “connect rate” means something else (the share of dialed calls that get answered). Here the term is used in its paid-traffic sense.

How to calculate connect rate

The formula is simple: page visits ÷ ad clicks × 100. The click count comes from your ads manager; the visit count comes from the tracking code installed on your own bridge page (in Track4you, the page views counted by the script you paste into the page’s <head>; the page stays yours). If the page also gets traffic from outside the ad (bio, organic), those visits inflate the math, so ideally keep paid traffic in its own funnel.

Example (illustrative numbers): 400 link clicks and 300 recorded visits give a connect rate of 75%. The other 100 clicks were paid for and never reached the page.

Why clicks and visits don’t match

An ad click doesn’t guarantee the page opened. The most common reasons:

  • Slow page: the person gives up before the page loads.
  • Accidental or curious click: they close it before loading finishes.
  • Long redirect chains: every extra hop on the way is another chance to lose people.
  • In-app browser: on some devices the page takes longer to open inside the app, or fails.

The lower your connect rate, the more of your cost per click (CPC) went to clicks that never became visits.

Low connect rate: what to check

Before touching the creative, look at the infrastructure: bridge page load time, the number of redirects, and whether the tracking code fires early enough. A great creative behind a slow page looks like a bad creative in the numbers. It’s one of the classic reasons behind Meta Ads campaigns that don’t convert on Telegram. For a setup checklist, see how to build a Telegram bridge page that doesn’t lose clicks.

Connect rate is not the channel entry rate

They’re metrics for different steps of the same funnel:

  1. Impression → click (CTR, related to CPM and CPC)
  2. Ad click → page (connect rate)
  3. Page → button click (clicks per page view)
  4. Button click → channel entry (enter_channel; entries per click)
  5. Entry → subscription or deposit (FTD)

The button is the standard bridge page setup, but a page that redirects automatically to the funnel’s entry link, with no tap needed, also works. In that case, step 3 no longer depends on a decision by the lead.

Track4you’s dashboard shows the rates for steps 3 and 4, plus the overall page-to-entry conversion (entries ÷ page views).

A high connect rate only tells you the person arrived. Whether they entered the channel and converted later are questions for other steps, which is why looking at just one of them leads to bad decisions when it’s time to scale budget.

How Track4you helps you read it

Track4you’s script on your bridge page records the visit and the button click with their campaign origin (the ad’s UTMs), and the button uses the funnel’s entry link, which takes the person to the channel. When they join, Track4you attributes enter_channel to the original click within the attribution window (up to 7 days after the click). That lets you read the funnel by campaign and creative (through the UTMs, lead by lead) and spot whether the bottleneck is before the page (connect rate) or after it.
